Below you will find answers to many common questions about UH Giving Day 2025 | A 98-Hour Celebration.
What is UH Giving Day?
March 7, 2025, marks our 7th UH Giving Day and the University’s 98th birthday! UH Giving Day is a university-wide philanthropic campaign celebrated for 98 hours, beginning March 3 at 10:00 p.m. CST and ending on March 7 at 11:59 p.m. CST. UH Giving Day brings together our University of Houston community (students, alumni, parents, friends, faculty, staff and more) to show our collective Cougar spirit.
When does it start?
The 98-hour celebration will begin on Monday, March 3, at 10:00 p.m. CST and end on Giving Day, March 7, at 11:59 p.m. CST.
Why should I participate?
Philanthropy is a critical part of the University of Houston’s success. It funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college and supports the University’s esteemed faculty, state-of-the-art facilities and hands-on learning opportunities for students. Giving back is one of the most incredible things we can do for our university and future Cougars. You make a difference whether you give $5 or $500.
How can I participate?
Everyone can participate in Giving Day by giving a gift of any amount! You can also become a Giving Day Influencer and share Giving Day with your networks!
How do I donate?
Click the “Make A Gift” button at the top of the website: www.allinforuh.com. The Giving Day website will track gifts in real time. You can see the progress of giving for each school or unit and updates for matches and challenges. Gifts made by phone or mail on Giving Day will count toward the day’s totals, but only gifts made on www.allinforuh.com will count toward matching funds and challenges.
What will my donation fund?
It’s up to you! You may designate your gift to any area of the University that is important to you. Whether your heart is with your college or school, or you have an interest in a specific research initiative or student program at UH, you are free to choose what your gift supports. When you make your gift, you can select from a list of colleges, schools and units to show your support.
What are "matches"?
Key donors provide matching funds to multiply the impact of your gift. When you donate, the matching donor will match 1:1 up to the awarded amount. For example, a $100 gift will be worth $200 to the fund of your choice with a dollar-for-dollar match. You're making double the difference!
What are "challenges"?
Challenges set goals based on specific criteria and provide rewards for completion. For example, when a school reaches 50 gifts, $5,000 in additional funding will be awarded to the school.
What is a "leaderboard"?
Leaderboards will be visible on the Giving Day website during the 98-hour giving period. They provide a way to see results and compare progress toward match and challenge goals between participating groups during a set period.
Can I sponsor a match or challenge?
Yes! If you would like to sponsor a match or a challenge, we’d love to hear from you and work with you to make the match or challenge a success. Please contact the Giving Day team at annualgiving@uh.edu.
